Notice that when a letter is part of a word it can have a sound that is different from the sound of its name. For example, x is usually pronounced with the sound  if found in the beginning of a word, such as (xylophone).  On the other hand, x is usually pronounced with the sound  if found within, or at the end of, a word, such as in  (box).
